Where Nick is focused
Protect the Aledo Way of Life
The successes of Aledo are no secret, and with success comes growth. We need a council that will prioritize protecting our Aledo way – what makes us special. It’s not any one person or thing – it’s the Aledo Diner after church on Sunday or Serve Coffee before heading into work or lending a neighbor a helping hand. We must be intentional about becoming a somewhere community, not an everywhere community. This can be accomplished by protecting the history, heritage and charm of Aledo. As your Mayor, I will work to ensure that we protect and preserve our way of life as we continue to grow.
Smart and Intentional Growth
As Aledo continues to grow, we must focus on smart and intentional growth. New developments must be strategic and fit the goal for our city. Those of us who have made Aledo home get the privilege of deciding the future look and feel of our town. I want to focus on more of the Aledo we love, which means high standards for developments, restaurants, retail and manufacturing. We must create and enforce these high standards and be vigilant against low quality developments. We need to continue to invest in strategic planning of our developments. By taking these proactive steps, we will ensure that we remain a somewhere community versus becoming just another anywhere community. In order to protect the Aledo way of life, we must have smart and intentional growth and that starts with a Mayor and City Council who will fight for it.
Let’s Focus on the Basics
It’s time to focus on the basics: streets, sidewalks, and updates to our existing infrastructure. The City must ensure our basic city services are top-of-the-line and adequately serving the citizens of Aledo. It’s no secret that Bailey Ranch Road is riddled with potholes and issues. Since being elected to Council, I have pushed to make it a top priority to fund the reconstruction of Bailey Ranch Road. I am pleased to report that phase one of this reconstruction project will begin in the Spring of 2022. As your Mayor, I will continue to make street maintenance and long-term strategic infrastructure planning a top priority as we grow.
Let’s Tackle Crime
We MUST commit to a fully funded City police force. As Aledo continues to grow, so does crime. The formation of a fully funded Aledo Police Department is inevitable and since joining the City Council, I have been a staunch advocate for prioritizing the planning for the creation of a Police Department to serve the citizens in the City of Aledo. At the direction of council, options are being studied now on how to best fund a Police Department and a plan is forthcoming. In the meantime, as your Mayor, I will continue to communicate directly with the Parker County Sheriff our needs and address any policing concerns directly, as needed. Keeping the people of Aledo safe and protecting our community is THE top priority, and as long as I am Mayor, it always will be.
Continued Focus on Communication and Transparency
The city tackles a lot of issues on a daily basis. Aledo residents need to know all that goes on within Aledo – negative or positive – and they deserve to know it quickly and openly. Since joining the council, I have emphasized the need for the City to communicate regularly with our citizens, either directly or indirectly (social media / city website) to ensure everyone is informed and that the City is being fully transparent to our citizens. Since then, dedicated communications channels have been strengthened and are improving as staffing increases and resources grow within City Hall. As your Mayor, I will always be accessible to you.
